1. 计量经济学。 为二年级博士研究生开设的课程，讲授经济学研究中用到的计量与数值方法，如时间序列、面板数据、离散选择等等。
2. 微观经济学。 为一年级博士生开设的高级微观经济学课程，主要讲授偏好、需求理论、供给、不确定性和竞争市场上的均衡。
3. 经济数学。为一年级博士生讲授动态规划和最优控制。
4. 实证产业组织。为高年级博士生讲授用来分析不完全竞争市场均衡的实证模型。
曾任国际区域科学协会和北美区域科学协会会长。Hewings教授以城市和区域分析为核心，重点研究区域大尺度模型的开发和应用，在国际专业期刊上发表200余篇学术论文，着书14部，参与80多部着作的编着。因其对美国区域科学研究的突出贡献，在2003年被授予“怀特艾萨德突出学者成就奖”（Walter
Isard Award for Scholarly Achievement），是区域科学界的最高奖，同时国际区域科学协会以其名字命名设立“Geoffrey J.D. Hewings
奖”，以奖励有突出贡献的年轻学者。
Hewings教授在1989年创建美国区域经济学应用实验室（Regional Economics Applications
Laboratory），该实验室不仅在美国区域科学界有较大影响，也同时在英国、西班牙、巴西等国家共建区域科学研究的国际合作机构，使REAL实验室成为国际化的合作交流平台。我校经济与社会发展研究院与Hewings教授达成战略合作意向，与REAL共建REAL
